| Commercial Interactive Media (CIM) this week released SimpleMerchant 1.0, a new e-commerce solution that enables small- to medium-sized enterprises to set up online retail outlets.
SimpleMerchant 1.0 is an "ecash ready" e-commerce solution that provides a simple "internet-shop-in-a-box" solution for those looking to place their business online.
SimpleMerchant doesn't require a dedicated server, and the developer's Internet Service Provider doesn't have to be involved. CIM's solution can be installed by any Web developer or merchant, unlike other such tools.
The tool enables developers to create Web sites in which the user can search through large product catalogs, select the products they wish to purchase, and place them in a "shopping basket." When the user is done shopping, they continue to the "checkout" where they are able to total their purchases, choose and apply shipping costs and pick their payment method.
