"Remote management services target the need of enterprises who need to adjust operating expenses," said Corey Ferengul, senior program director with META Group. "New forms of targeted remote management are making the option available to organizations who are not comfortable with nor need to outsource the entire IT infrastructure."

RemoteServ is best suited for enterprise customers who have an existing IT infrastructure. ISVs or customers who do not intend or desire their own IT infrastructure can choose FullServ, which provides customers with complete infrastructure, managed operations and 24x7 customer support for enterprise applications.

"RemoteServ allows customers to benefit from premium services without ongoing hiring, training and retaining demands," said Philip Bouchard, chief operating officer of Avasta. "Our proprietary technologies allow us to provide equivalent services, security and scalability to both our RemoteServ and FullServ customers."

Launched in March 2000, San Francisco-based Avasta has secured financing from American Express, Alliance Capital, Convergence Partners, Sand Hill Capital, Robertson Stephens Co-Investment and Hewlett-Packard Co.
