| I have a user whose Word 2000 has begun displaying a light grid pattern in each report - newly created ones and older docs both. Pattern is not visible in print preview or upon printing. Cannot be selected. I have deleted the only normal.dot on his machine, turned off all options in View, made sure no Borders & Shadings issues were present, . . couldn't really think of anything else. The grid pattern is limited to the text area and will change upon changing margins. Have screen shot if that would shed any light on the issue.

drhogan, seeing as this grid pattern doesn't show in the print preview, I'm wondering if it could be a monitor driver issue rather than a Word issue? ... just a possibility...

Have they run any Windows diagnostics on their machine?
Show the Drawing toolbar.
Click Draw, then Grid, then uncheck the "Display..." FilePro and Laserjet Printing::
In this case, it was ^[(s0B, which has no effect, as we are already printing non all the dots in the particular area before you laid down the halftone pattern.
