What I would like to know is the party/clan system? Is there any or is every man to himself battling all other pirates?
They have been at E3 for the past couple years. From there site "PotBS.com" you can see some of the interviews and ratings. They have been rated near the top on all the sites.

I know there is a Clan/Guild structure but not much information is out on what kind of benefits there are. One roll that a Guild could play is for instance ship building. Each person only has a few jobs that they can do. There are many jobs that you will get to choose to do to make money and equipment. ie: iron mining, log mining, nail making, deck making, lumber cutting etc.. There are over 100 - 150 (I think, the number escapes me) but basically you could never do everything.
So to build a ship lets say requires 30 steps, your guild could market themselves as a shipwright and go to town building ships(keep in mind that it would take ATLEAST 3 days to build a ship once ordered, and the estimated price would be over 2 Million Dobloons). Of course you yourself could do this as well, but would just need to by alot of materials and pay to have things made.
