Intel Aims to Help E-Business Developers
Published by: rose 2008-11-21

Intel Corp. is releasing a modular research platform to the open-source web-developing community in hopes of further advancing e-Business applications.

Intel's Open Runtime Platform (ORP) is designed to help programmers with the intermediate steps of compiling source code so that new e-Business applications can coexist across multiple platforms -- for example, on a larger server or a small PDA -- and, if needed, with existing applications. The modularity of the ORP system will help developers compile faster and more efficiently manage their memory.

"We believe that the open source availability of this modular runtime platform will accelerate computer language research improving the stability, portability and performance of software applications," said Fred Pollack, Director of Intel's Microprocessor Research Lab. "Working with both academia and the open source community will allow us to bring together leading technologies and demonstrate their viability in future products."
