While scores of firms teed off with their Web services wares at the JavaOne Developer Conference in San Francisco, chipmaker Intel
Corp. tipped off the public about its "Solution Blueprints"
strategy for Intel-based servers.
Basically, the Santa Clara, Calif. firm and a number of software and hardware vendors are working to document applications for
Intel-based servers that have been tested or previously deployed for a specific business need. The idea is that blueprint
integrators will render work completed under this initiative repeatable for other businesses.
Already in use in some industries, Intel Solution Blueprints address vertical markets such as financial services, telecommunications
and digital media. Intel expects to publish hundreds of Intel Solution Blueprints for application software, middleware, operating
systems, platform and hardware specifications, including recommendations for those that use its Xeon and Itanium processor families.

manufacturers and integrator sites.
