I'm trying to create a shortcut to one of my apps (Media Center Extender) in my videos (I know it's a program, but just trying to make things simple for my little girl). I created a text file with the following:
EappsMedia Center Extender for Xboxdefault.xbe
and saved it as a .cut file. I put it in my user data folder. I edited the source xml as follows:
No dice...the bookmark appears in my videos, but selecting it just brings up an empty screen. I thought the problem might be that the shortcut would only work in my programs, but putting the bookmark in there had the same result. Forgive my stupidity, but I must be missing something basic here?
Is your cut file in the directory that you specified in the sources.xml? This just doesn't look right

Shouldn't your path be Three Years of Haiku: The Long Road to Evolution > Comments:: 100+ posts - Last post: Sep 1, 2004You know, I really loved BeOS, but it doesn't cut it anymore. Precious few new apps, not too many drivers. Trying to recreate R5 is like http://www.osnews.com/comments/8114&offset=75&rows=83HOME | Gamerscore Blog : Keeping Xbox LIVE Fair:: Also saying you are trying to make Xbox Live Fair is a ridiculous statement. as my Xbox 360 often liked to create big scratches on my disks and I was http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2007/05/17/545414.aspxHOME |

Right, fixed this, but no change...what is supposed to happen when I select the bookmark in my programs? Is is supposed to execute the shortcut and start the app, or just take me to the shortcut file? As it is now, it takes me to an empty page i.e. I don't even see any shortcut file....does it need to be in a separate folder?
Yes, that's what I was following when I did this...as far as I can tell, I've done exactly what is indicated.

I just noticed something in you first post
EappsMedia Center Extender for Xboxdefault.xbe
Is this the path that you have specified in the cut file?
Shouldn't it be this
E:appsMedia Center Extender for Xboxdefault.xbe
Yep, the path is right...all of my XBMC files and folders are in the "dashboard" folder (not in an XBMC folder). I recently changed my soft mod to ndure, and ths apparently is the structure that has to be used to make XBMC your default dash.
That is not really true. You could put the Team XBMC Shortcut.xbe and the Team XBMC Shortcut.cfg files in the dashboard folder but make sure to rename them to whatever the softmod is looking for. I believe it is default.xbe. So in the dashboard folder you would have default.xbe and default.cfg. You would put the XBMC folder in apps. Now if you don't feel comfortable doing this I understand but just wanted to let you know that there is another way of doing it. Here is a thread that you can read more about it http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=406656
I guess I did need to put the .cut file in its own folder....works now (but only in My Programs). I take it you can't put a bookmark to a .cut file in My Videos?
