Excellent news. It had to be a difficult negotiation. Holloway made it clear he wanted to stay, so that had to reduce his leverage. Add to that the fact that our funds are limited.
On the other hand, his leaving would have been a blow to the club and probably would have meant that less of the current squad would have re-signed with QPR, so those factors favored a nice increase to keep him here.
In the end, it got done in what was probably a reasonable amount of time. After all, they haven't even held the play-off finals yet. (This "sack the board" stuff some folks were saying on some of the other message boards seemed a bit over the top).

The only worrying thing seems to be that some of the scuttlebutt on the other message boards indicates that some of the players we'd like to keep (Bircham, in particular) may not have even heard from the club yet. If that's true, hopefully the Holloway signing means Olly and Davies picked up the phone and started faxing offers to the guys Olly wants to keep.

Again, I’d like to reiterate, this is a business now and we’ve got a business plan to take us forward. We’ve all worked hard this season, David Davies and the Board, and we’ve been open with the fans about what we are trying to do – and they bought into what we are trying to do. Kids have put their pocket money in to help pay wages – it’s been an incredible year.
We’ve got to keep building to get to the promised land – the Premiership – but now we are a step closer.
We’ve got a really good group of lads at the club, and now that my contract is settled, hopefully we can settle some of theirs. We will sign the players who I think will take us forward.
