Open Ports - openSUSE Forums:: Whats an easy way to close your open ports in SuSE?? ARCHIVES - Network/ Internet Questions regarding network or Internet configuration and use in SUSE http://forums.opensuse.org/archives/sf-archives/archives-network-internet/332760-open-ports.htmlHOME | Hello.
I have a question about two entries in "Open Ports" log of Outpost Pro 2.0.
The first that I'm wondering about is:
System/local host/0(port0)/Raw Socket.
And:
lsass.exe/local host/0/Protocol 255.
I have XP home SP1 with a 56k dialup connection.
Are these entries normal?
If not, what should I do regarding rules?
The Raw Socket entry is one that I'm not familiar with.
Protocol 255 is a loopback isn't it?
FWIW Outpost Pro comes up stealth at grc and others.
I like Outpost Pro enough that I registered it.
;)
Tester you can try doing a search of the forum on lsass.exe and I have the loop back disabled in mine. inet services, open ports etc - UNIX for Dummies Questions :: 5 posts - Last post: Feb 5, 2002When I scan my linux box for open ports, i have several of them, but they shouldn't be open. I removed the lines for them in /etc/services, http://www.unix.com/unix-dummies-questions-answers/4394-inet-services-open-ports-etc.htmlHOME |
You can also go to OutPost Pro V2 FAQ and answers to your questions should also be there I believe the topic on both of these have been covered extensively.Outpost Firewall Guide. Also check out Rules Creation and Presets.

Thanks GoonMan.
I disabled "loopback" and I'll see what happens.
I should have thought of Webhikers guide.
I've read it before.
I did a forum search for Raw Socket and I see that this has been discussed before.
I mad a global rule for deny and reporting of Unknown Protocols.
I'll see if anything gets reported.
