Do I need a firewall, virus protection and trojan hunter or is this overkill? I am using the paid version of Outpost 1.0 (waiting for a fix for 2.0) Norton virus protection and a trial version of Tauscan. Just wondering if I really need all this stuff. Maybe everything except the trojan hunter. Any advice?
granny, whats up??
i to will give my two cents for what its worth.
i have never used Tauscan but hear its alright
a lot of folks wish it was updated more often.
i have been using TrojanHunter for sometime now and really
approve of it greatly.
hope this helps and have agreat day.:D :)

Thanks to all who replied. It seems that the consensus is....a trojan hunter of some kind of definitely needed. I've already tried
Tauscan trial and now am doing the TrojanHunter trial. I'm checking to see which one doesn't afffect the system as far as slowing things down.

Hola Granny!
I use TDS3 http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/, nortonAV  & OP2.xx
TDS3 looks intimidating, but out of the box default settings are easy to change, if you like.

Aside from OPv2 I personally run a dedicated AV (NOD32), AT (Trojan Hunter), and I'm behind a N.A.T. router, since I will not trust one product or piece of hardware with all my security. Some will call this overkill, but I prefer to look at it as a layered defense. Personally I think you are doing the right thing. Forgot to add that as far as Tuscan as an AT I have never used it so I can't provide an opinion about it's abilities. A good place to start would be over at Wilder's Security. Have a look at their review of the available Anti-Trojans (http://www.wilders.org/anti_trojans.htm).
Granny I use Tauscan and have ever since Agnitum came out with it with no problems. I also use OpPro V2 and Norton.
The Wilder's Security web site that MegaHertz gave you is a great web site and gives you a great choice of AT's. I feel like MegaHertz it is better to have a layered defense instead of depending on one item for your system protection. (I guess my computer is overly protected by some standards but I think of it as investment protection).
Also I have found that no matter how well a product is advertised or touted if you do not keep up the definition files then it cannot properly protect your system.
The final choice is yours I hope this helps.
Randy
BTW hayc59 that was my 3 cents worth. I spent my 2 cents earlier today. ROFLMAO :D
Only one minor issue with BOClean is no trial period. So the only way to try it is to buy it. They do say there is a 30 Day satisfaction guarantee, but I have read of people having trouble getting their refunds. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
