Does anyone know of a router that comes bundled or atleast "semi-integrated" with Outpost? All the ones I have seen use Zone Alarm and I'd like to find one that uses Outpost.
Thanks
We have a DI 524 at work and it works pretty well (altho would like to try a Linksys with the dual antenna). I have the Zone Alarm feature disabled there since they are using another 3rd party software firewall. I'm glad it's not really doing anything but it would be cool to have one that was integrated with Outpost.
That's interesting Chris. I wasn't aware that some router checked for the presence of a software firewall. Sounds a bit like the Security Center in XP SP2.
Well DLink has a Zone Alarm "section" in it's firewall and I believe Linksys does too. I'd rather have that space in the firmware devoted to a firewall I am using then one I'm not. I'm not aware of any such deal. But you can buy a router at Outpost.com. Does that qualify? :D

Thanks Manny... I miss Fry's Electronics, they don't have any out here.
I can sort of understand why you would want a router that include a bundled version of Outpost Firewall; however, that shouldn't be the reason to buy a particular router. The feature set of the router should take priority over what software comes bundled with it.
I have never heard of a software firewall "integrating" with an harware router and don't see any advantage of doing so.
Bigdog,
You got my interest up so, I did some research. The D-Link DI-524 does indeed have a Zone Alarm feature. Linksys offers 5 models with Zone Alarm, PC Cillin functionality. Your right, unable to find any the are functional with Outpost.
All this "feature" does is prevent the computers connected to the router access to the internet unless the software firewall is installed. To do this the router must constantly check each connected computer to verify the software firewall is active. This translates to increased bandwidth usage and could slow down, not enhance your connection.
