penis irritations

Published by: jane 2009-01-07

  • I am a 16 year old male from seattle washington. after about a month after having sex and having the condom break i noticed a bumb on my scrotum. it was about a centimeter in diameter and slightly raised. it lasted for about 4 days and then subsided. i also had a bunch of red bumps around my thighs in varius places and on my butt. i went to the doctor and he said the the bumps on my thighs were ingrown hairs. so i tried to ignore the whole thing but i couldn't. i after about another month i niticed a red area around my corona and another around the meatus. it just looks red when my penis is unerect, but when i get an erection it looks as though there is a few little bumps. so i went to the doctor again and he didn't see the bumps becuase my penis wasn't erect. but he saw the red spots and he said that it was simply an irritation. so again i tried to ingore it, but still i couldn't about after about a week i got a red bumb on my groin similar to the one on my scrotom earlier. i also noticed another red spot around my corona a different spot than the other one. and my scrotom was redder than normal. so i went back to my doctor and he said that the redness on my penis was still just an irritation, and the bump on my groin was an ingrown hair. i told him how i was feeling (scared), so he said that he could give my a blood test.( i has been just about 60 days from the sexual encounter). he tested me for aids and herpes type 2. i have gotten the HIV results and they are negative. but i have yet to hear the herpes results. i have done quite a bit of research online, and looked at alot of pictures. the only herpes pictures that i have seen are ones that look very extreme. the bumps on my corona are not very painful, but the redness around my meatus has a little sensation like a tingling feeling. i have diagnosed myself with herpes and i am very worried. my doctor said that it wasn't likely that i have it, but again he didn't see the bumps because they are really only visible to the eye when my penis is erect. i am writing this just to get another opinion. my doctor is rated amung the best in the seattle area and has been on the news, etc., etc. so i trust his judgement but still i am worried. to recap: i have had redness and tiny bumps on my corona, 1 larger bump on my scrotom (which is gone) another larger bumb on my groin.( which has been here for about 4 days), and redness on my scrotom. the bumps on my corona have been there for about 3 weeks. so i guess my questions are -what do you think this could be, herpes?, some other std?,balanitis? something unrelated?thanks alot -nick

  • Hi Pleasehelpp, First thing you must do is to calm down. I believe that anxiety may further irritate any existing condition, whatever that may be. Sounds like you're shouting out for help and perhaps have no one with whom to confide. I guess that's why you have chosen this open forum for help. As you have had no response so far, for what my comment may be worth I will attempt to help you as best I can. Firstly, please understand that Goog*e answerers are careful not to proffer medical advice for very good reason. You have already suggested 3 doctor's visits, so don't expect an answer here, just opinion. Other contributors to Goog*e may shy away from your asking. A friend of mine had Shingles recently. His medication administered was called Valtrex. From discussions, we learnt that Valtrex is also used to treat Herpes. This led to conversation of symptoms of Herpes as described on the leaflet enclosed in the box. OK, maybe your symptoms described overlap with what was in the leaflet. But maybe not. Rest assured if so, according to the information it can be managed sucessfully. Do not be alarmed if your blood tests show a positive result. My concern from your words as an unknown, is the way in which you will handle your dilemma as a young man. If I may suggest, as I'm going to anyway .. do not focus on your problems as central to your life. They will be a part of your life if so, but need not be the central point of your life. If you have "H" as they put it, so be it. It can be managed. Do not feel scared. There is no reason to feel that way. Don't allow it to control you. Be in control of it. Use the medicine and technology available to help yourself. Hey, they may be just ingrown hairs .. relax .. accept .. whatever is thrown your way. Please respond, All the best, Phil

  • Your doctor is probably right. Some men get pretty bad skin irritations after sex. Do you have sensative skin elsewhere on your body? You can try putting a little Cortizone on the irritated areas. In addition, you may have developed cysts. These are pretty common, too, and not dangerous (though they can be uncomfortable). They tend to grow in areas where you skin is being rubbed up against something. Using antibacterial soap can help keep them at bay. (However, antibacterial soap can be drying, too...) Kriswrite

  • In view of the long list of things that you say you've diagnosed yourself with, it's obvious that you have already done some reading on this matter. I'd be glad to do some research for you on penile irritations in general, but there just isn't any way to diagnose your personal situation over the Internet (and, even if there were, this would violate the Google Answers Terms of Service). If you'd like me to gather material on the subject, without addressing your specific case, I'll be glad to do so.
