Is it possible to have a Powerpoint 2000 slide show burned on to a CD and then play it in a DVD player. There is also music incorporated into the slide show. The only thing I see so far is that it needs to be a .avi file.

i was very surprised to find that VIDFLASH is a FREE online conversion service. i converted some files there. and ppt to avi also. good service. advise to try everyone.

If you are looking to play it on a DVD player for your TV, then you would need to save it as a different tyype of format, like SvCD, and make sure your DVD player will support it.
You can do the first yourself easily, and for the second, you can buy a software pack at http://www.v-com.com/product/dp_ind.html
or take a look at http://www.vcdhelper.com/ which is a great tool for doing this type of project.
Yes, may be it needs to be an *.avi! Or may be any other DVD player supported format. For ex *.vob... mpeg2...
