Hi there,
I've got a fairly silly (though important) request re protect.lst entries...
LAN Setup:
a) PC Tower, IP = 10.0.0.1/8,
- OS = WinXP Pro
- Outpost v1 running in rule-assistant mode
- NetBIOS communication denied (not marked in Menu Options / System) Peter Febbroriello Research Support Group 847 Litchfield Street :: LST that contains the names of data that will be analyzed. substances which serve to protect the organisms within from environmental stresses such as http://www.well.com/user/peter/lwr.txtHOME | Microsoft PowerPoint - 04001_WDEBU7_Upgrade Netweaver 7.0 details.ppt:: File Format: PDF/Adobe Acrobat - View as HTMLYou can create a file called protect.lst in the directory /sapmnt/<SID>/exe to entries limiting number of R3trans & Background processes are ignored http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10564d5c-cf00-2a10-7b87-c94e38267742HOME |
b) Laptop PC IP = 10.0.0.2/8
- OS = WinXP Home
- no Firewall (yet)
I want to transfer files beteween Tower and Laptop PC.
Problem :
---------
Any traffic from the Laptop (10.0.0.2) is blocked, despite that 10.0.0.2 shows up in the protect.lst-File under 'ignore hosts' as 10.0.0.2/255.0.0.0 .
That is, I can see 10.0.0.2 by its NetBios name in the explorer, but cannot access any shared files: the shared folders appear in the explorer, but whenever I click on one a msg-box tells me 'network path not found'.
The Outpost logfile tells me that the traffic is blocked.
As soon as I disable Outpost things work fine.
Question is:
-----------
Where else could the problem reside, or what can I do to allow that simple traffic with Outpost switched on?
Any help welcome! Many thanks!
Jürgen
This involves Windows File and Printer sharing which is handled by Outpost's LAN settings (list your laptop address and check the NetBIOS box), not Attack Detection. However these settings are not available for Outpost Free so you need to either use Outpost Pro (if you are using it, note you can upgrade for free to version 2.0 - you will need to extend your licence to get an update to the current 2.5 though) or another free firewall (Kerio would be a good choice for a free product).
