I have Outpost Pro trial installed on a Windows 2000 Server machine. I always logoff of the server so that it is waiting at the login screen when I'm done. Does Outpost Pro continue to run in the background when I am logged off? What about Outpost Free?
I'm pretty sure that it does, but I just needed to make sure.
Thanks,
Jordan
Does Outpost continue to work when I logoff my server?I'm not sure, but guess the answer is NO. I will consult with the developers and get back here.

Danil I think I remember someone saying that would be fixed in a later update. Do you know if that will be ammended (starts in mode it was last in prior to shutdown/reboot) in v2.0?
Thanks for your reply.
This is a cross post from another thread (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4182).
I have just completed a little not so scientific testing.

Placed OP in Stop All mode logged out.
Went to laptop tried to connect through FTP server. Could not connect.
Tried to browse computer through network neighborhood. Was able to connect transfer files. I will assume for the moment that this is possible because the laptop is in the trusted zone.
Restarted PC.
Went to laptop tried to connect through FTP server. This time FTP client was able to connect. Just like normal.

Now in my opinion that leaves only one question unanswered. What mode is Outpost in when I restart my PC but do not login? I suspect it is in Allow Most mode. Since the last mode I left it in prior to restart was Stop All. Hopefully Danil can either let us know or ask the developers. If what I suspect is going on is the case then I think it is a problem, but one that can be alleviated simply by logging in then out. An inconvenience for sure but not what I would call a gaping security hole.
As I know it is amended in 2.0.

Danil,
Do they know what mode it operates in? Is it the mode it was last left in or does it switch to Blockmost mode like when the GUI is exited? I think I remember from a thread a long time ago that prior to login OP is in allow most mode, but that may have just been before the first login. Thanks in advance.
Do they know what mode it operates in? They guess, it is Block most.
Actually it is easy to check:
1) log off server
2) use another PC to scan the server
If server's ports are stealthed then outpost in Block most mode, else it is in Allow Most mode.
