My Husband's Ex Wife keeps receiving Credit approvals and literature
addressed to Her at Our Address..When I contact the sender they say
that they obtain their info from the Credit Bureau....Why would the
credit Bureau have Her listed at Our address (She never lived at this
address) and how can I get it removed So we do not receive mail
addresssed to her?
Greetings, scootermacka!
You've got 2 issues here:
1) You're receiving mail for someone who does not live at your address.
but ***much more importantly***
2) If the Credit Bureaus still show her at that address, do they still
have her records linked to her ex-husband's credit records?
If so, any debt she runs up could have a negative effect on your
husband's credit report and rating, possibly causing him problems with
obtaining loans, employment, or other services where a credit check is
usually run.
Your husband can clear up both of these issues by doing the following:
1) Write a letter
- providing her name, social security number, and new address;
- providing his name, social security number, and current address;
- stating that they were divorced and provide the date that the
divorce became final;
- including a copy of a page from the divorce decree which shows the
effective date and both of their names;
- requesting a copy of his credit report to verify that no information
from her credit report has incorrectly been included in his credit
report; and
- requesting that he be permanently placed on the opt-out list for
Direct Marketing solicitations.
2) Make 3 copies of the information in #1.
3) Send a set of the letter and decree to each of the Big 3 Credit

He should receive replies from these agencies within a month; he will
need to check his credit reports closely to be sure that there is no
erroneous information there.
If you wish, you may want to have the letter include your name,
address, and social security number, a copy of your marriage
certificate, and a request for your credit report as well.
Before Rating my Answer, if you have any questions about the above
information, please post a Request for Clarification, and I will see
what I can do for you.
