New: The Official Spyware Remover!::
Highet Converting/Paying Spyware Remover On Cb! By AdwareAlert Team! Now With MSN/Goog/Yhoo Tracking!
http://welcomewlc.SPYRMVR.hop.clickbank.netHOME | Unrequested AdIntelligence is now resident in my computer.
Also numerious pos ups just appeared prior to the 'event'.
Running Symantic on the computer, Windows 2000 professional.
I want to eliminate all traces, links, updates etc from my
computer and ensure it can not creep back in via a back door from
hidden resident code as I do not want my young childen to use the
computer with this porn popping up.
I have no faith with thier own removal programme after review of thier
disclaimer as it appears it is only partial removal not termination.
Greetings, rugbyworldcup!
You're not the first to get hit by this nasty scumware.
You're right -- the so-called "uninstaller" provided by the purveyors
of this type of scumware usually does not work, or makes the problem
even worse.
However, there is good news -- it appears that there is a successful remedy.
From user Redster on the CNET Windows 2000/NT Forum:
"RE: Unknow exe maxing out cpu and resources (VDMCONV.EXE)"
Also found this inside it [vdmconv.exe]:

A response from user Kees suggests:
"If Spybot [security.kolla.de] doesn't catch it, as you write, try
Adaware (www.lavasoft.de) and online housecall
(housecall.antivirus.com)."
http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6127-0.html?forumID=9&threadID=21925&messageID=237117
And a response from user R.Proffitt advises:
"You may [find] that a pass with Adware, Spybot, Cwshredder, and
Housecall [will toss] it out."
http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6127-0.html?forumID=9&threadID=21925&messageID=237122
And Redster replies:
"Yup, looks like a PeopleonPage spyware/trojan. PeopleonPage was
caught by Spybot. File is [now] deleted. Thanks all."
