Restaurant servers ever go postal? ?

Published by: mike 2009-01-07

  • I am so tired of people needing. Not all at once, you see. I bring another napkin, they want more salsa. And after salsa...a soda refill. and sour cream. Make a list, damnitt! I have 15 tables and they all want something NOW. I kiss *** all day and still some weiner fills out a complaint. And sends it to the main office. Isn't it enough that I'm dealing with the loss of my self esteem, they have to try to get me fired too? Does anyone else live in my hell?

  • When I was in College, I used to be a waitress at a Diner. After a year, the "regulars" knew, to ask me everything at once but I also had understood their habits and only the few "new customers" represented a headache to me at the end of the day. I quit after two years but I also earned a lot of tips and had had my share of fun.

  • Find another job. The job you have now is called: SERVER and that is what you should do. Do not forget: the better the service, the better the tips.

  • Clearly this job isn't for you. People go out to eat so that they can forget about their stress and be waited on. This means that the stress is inherently transferred to the waitress. People are not going to create the same stress at a restaurant that they would have at home, by thinking ahead and making sure that they've taken care of everything. That's your job and that's why they pay to go out instead of eating in.

  • I once saw a server who was upset over the amount of the gratuity, chase after the guest. Hand the gratuity back and tell them "you need this more than I do". Turned out the server ran there butt off for a $100.00 tab and got $2.50 for there efforts.
