Sable Shepherds.Real or fake?

I have a next door neighbor that has two dogs that look EXACTLY like wolves.When i asked him about it,he said they are Sable Shepherds. Now i have looked up and down on the internet for this breed of dog.But i cant find anything.I know Sable is a color pattern for gray.So is there such thing as a breed of dog Sable Shepherd? Or is he just covering it up that these dogs are really wolves?

Check the standard for german shepherds - sable is one of the most common colors.

Not everyone likes the black and tan German shepherds. I, too, prefer a dark sable German shepherd. Sable is a color term. Sable German shepherds have been used for a very long time in movies and on TV to play the parts of wolves.

It's possible that your neighbor's dogs are part wolf but I think it is more likely that they are dogs, maybe all shepherd or mixed with some other breed or breeds.

PS not all "shepherds" are German shepherds. There are many other shepherd breeds.

It's just a color phase of the german shepherd not a seperate breed.

If these dogs are completely sable colored (as in gray all over), then it would be VERY unlikely that they are GSDs. There is no breed "Sable Shepherd". Depending on where you live, wolves may not be allowed as pets without some sort of permit or at all, and if you are suspicious, I would file a report with animal control. At the very least they should be able to come check it out.
