Hello people.
I need help to do a good scrollbar. What kind of scrollbar im trying to do? Something like this:

Type any word (like "its") and you will see the scrollbar. I tried to understand the code but i dont know some properties. If someones knows a good tutorial please let me know. I have just have found normal scrollbars tutorials (with just an up and down buttons).

But i have a question: it will work with a dynamic loaded text?. Not for the embed thing, its for the height.
Thanks Pedro, im from Chile so i understood most of those portuguese words, nevertheless i didnt understand the code at all. LoL
I think the best way to illustrate my problem is to post the .FLA, as Kirupa suggested. Here it is. I deleted all the other code and graphics, i left the box only.
I copied your code Kirupa, i just changed "dragger" for "slider". If you want to see it working just go tru the MCs until you reach the text box, then change the textbox height to a greater number. It will scroll, but it wont depend of the text length, it wil depend on the textbox height.

Yeah - it will work for anything placed into the content movie clip. I think dynamic text would display and scroll just like the static text because you aren't scrolling the text field(s) themselves. You are merely moving the movie clip that stores these text fields instead.

No, it doesnt work. Thats because the height of the text box (wich defines the MC height as well) doesnt change when the text is bigger that the space of the text box.
Any idea? It worked fine when i changed the text box height, but its not adjustable, so if the text is shorter than the textbox height it leaves a blank space. In one word, it doesnt change the parent MC :(

Welll. I dontīn know if it helps, but there is a very good class and tutorial for a scroll bar to MC and Text, with buttons and drag and all the commom actions like a click in a certain point and.. well...

And I have had also a bug by Flash when I import external TXT into a text field.. but I fixed that and you can see how here on Kirupa Foruns:

EDIT: Lunatic - in sen's tutorial, in his sample animation, you have to enter a search term such as 'are' and press Enter. That will display the scrollbar.

Could you post the FLA with your Dynamic Text field and the scrollbar? I'll try to fiddle with it and see if something can be done :)
Hello Im experimenting on the scrollbar. It works perfectly but however it doesnt work if I load an external image loadmovie("temp.jpg",this); of course the image is bigger than the mask. i dont know why it isnt scrolling. maybe you could post a file where it can dynamically scroll anything even dynamic movie, image. textfield,etc.
Is it important to preload the image first into the movieclip before we could use the height, width, properties? Any suggestions, comments?

Now understand your post. Somewhere there is the right code to get the text property that i need (instead the text box height). Im on it now, i just downloaded the file. Anyway, any further help will be very welcome :) its kind of long and i will need help:P
Thanks kirupa. It will look good with a scrollbar and a blur effect that i will put to it when the user press and moves the slider :)

Unfortunately the "tutorial" of that page doesnt teach you how to build one. It just say you how to run the constructor.
