Should I be worried about my dog as well?

My friend and I both got black lab puppy from the same litter. Mine is a female, and hers was a male. A couple of days ago her dog died from a rare heart disease and it is hereditary. Basically, the left side of his heart did not work properly since birth and it formed scar tissue. Eventually the scar tissue took over that side of the heart and it stopped it from working.

Maybe. Please have your puppy spayed when she's old enough.

It is quite possible, unless this disease skips a generation or if its only hereditary in males.
I would do as much research on the disease as possible and consult your veterinarian

Your talking about SAS. It is not that rare and does run in Labs as well as many other breeds!
It can hit 1 or 2 pups in a litter but does not necessarily mean your pup has it too. It is genetic and you need to have your pup evaluated by your vet!
The person you got the pups from should also be told that this is showing up in her pups too. The dogs she mated to produce these pups should never be bred again either.

This is a good question for your vet. He can do x-rays.

Well don't ask us, go get her tested at the vet, who ever you guys bought her from is a bad breeder!

Well, you said it was rare. Ask your vet about this. I am sure your vet could tell if your puppy has any signs of this problem. Take her in, and then you can feel better about this.
