Skylight replacement

It is time to replace the two skylights on our screen porch. We - my wife- have decided on Velux curb mounted, fixed skylights to replace our plastic bubble type. The outside curb dimensions are 49"x49". The Velux inside dimensions are 49 1/2 x 49 1/2. Should I mill wood to 1/4" and install it on all four sides before sliding the skylight over the curb, calk the 1/4" gap or maybe leave the gap alone? The old bubble skylight has what appears to be 1/4" gap all around.

Leave it alone for any kind of movement, but pack insulation in the gap and trim it out....
