helle,
OS 10.5 - Sharing with windows, smb problems - Mac-Forums.com:: This is confusing and it's irritating me. If share via SMB is turned on on my mac, the shared drives SHOULD show up under network places on windows xp. http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/os-x-operating-system/135499-sharing-windows-smb-problems.htmlHOME |
i've been trying to get smb working. i keep getting the 'acces denied' message when i try accessing my mp3 share. Linux-Kernel Archive: ncp/smb problems (2.1.72):: ncp/smb problems (2.1.72). root (root@cs.cracksoft.kiev.ua) Also, in 2.0.32 kernel I have broken permissions for smb/ncp mounts. http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/9712.1/0235.htmlHOME |
i've used the settings described in the .xml
weird thing is that for my videos smb works flawlessly: i can watch all shared videos.
my mp3 share seems another problem. and this although it's the same shared directory. crontab-smb probs:: Oct 19, 2005 The problem I have is that I tried configuring mrtg in my freebsd 5.4 stable machine, as well as smb. And that's where my problems start! http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-performance/2005-October/001582.htmlHOME |
mp3: c:\shared\mp3

summary;
smb videos works
smb mp3 doesn't work
anybody got an idea wtf this could be?
t.i.a.
yea you can.. you just need to turn of simple filesharing. it's in the advanced settings in explorer
just to clarify my previous post, even though you got it working, clicking add user in that dialog box, meaning to add the user already created to the list, and giving permissions to the files. this is definately there in windows xp pro..
im not sure exactly how hacked down windows home is by microsoft, but i would think u can set file permissions if you can create more than one user...
hmmm
i'm on winxp :/
right click and adding users isn't available
edit;
when i start xbmp and try accessing mp3's it works...
maybe it's a setting in xbmc?
*clueless*
thanks alot guys!
i finally got it working.
one more happy costumer on these forums!
+karma to you 2 :)
assuming your share permissions are set correctly: at least read access, then you probably need to set the file permissions
right click on folder, click security, add user xbox (or whatever user ur using), give read & execute, click advanced, click replace permissions on child entries, and click ok, then ok
then it should work
