I have references to various chemicals in my document. H2O, for example. I need to make the 2 subscript and I have so many that I need to use Find and Replace. Naturally, there are 2's in my document that I don't want to change. I only want to change the 2's in H2O. I played around with the Format options in the Find/Replace box, but Word subscripts the whole word and makes all 3 characters little.
Is there a way to replace just the 2 with a subscript 2?
Thanks in advance for your consideration,
DJ
P.S. I am not opposed to using Visual Basic if Word this is something Word cannot do.
By the way... the ^c means "clipboard contents"
Copy a "good" H2O.
Hit Ctrl+H
Type regular old H2O into the Find What box.
In Replace With, type: ^c
(that's lower case C)
Hit Replace all.
Hm. My web? www.officearticles.com
Hit Ctrl+F, then hit the More button, then hit the Special button. I don't know why "clipboard contents" doesn't appear in the list of Replace with items, tho... at least not in 2000. But I knew it from some version, so I just tried it when I was answering your Q.
Also, I do try to get in here often, but it doesn't always work. If you have a pressing question, send me a private message with a link to it. I'm always happy to check it out.
Awesome! Thanks!
Hey, where can I read about more tips like this?
