something weird happens with outpost v2 . when i woke up this morning i tried to open my browser, which is Mozilla Firebird, and email client, which is Mozilla Thinderbird.
in both cases, when i click ont he shortcuts, nothing happens.
in task manager i can see the 2 process, but i have to end task on both of them. no matter how many times i try it, nothing opens. this happened to me already on a couple occasions.
the only way to fix this was to shutdown Outpost then restart it. once i do that its all back to normal.
is this a bug? has anyone experienced the same problem? does this happen with other browsers/programs as well? why is Outpost "blocking" these? also i noticed that when i'm habving the problem and i open outpost, the left column (where you have My internet, NEtwork activity etc) is just empty, there is nothing there. (i forgot to take a screenshot, if it happens again i will. so this is why i'm guessing Outpost is the source of the problem.
i am running Outpost v2.0.225.2919 PRO on Windows 2000 pro SP3
ok where to start....
now i know for sure that outpost is the cause of the problem, because ive been able to reproduce this situation a few times. let me explain as best as i can:
when oupost crashes or freezes, it prevented my browser and mail client to load. in fact i realised afterwards that those arent the only programs failing, when outpost crashes it just prevents many programs from working properly, for example winamp, and icq as well.
i dont know the exact cause of the problem, i dont even know why oupost crashes, but all i can tell for now is that it crashes whenever i leave the pc on for a long time (usually 1 night will do it)
this problem gets fixed when i end task outpost from the task manager.
the problem is i cant always end task. sometimes it gives me an eror saying: Access denied, and outpost keeps running in the background, generally messing up the whole OS operations.
on another occasion i managed to end task, but upon reloading the firewall i got the message saying I'm using fast user switch, so it's already running in the back, so i cant load it again. now, correct me if i'm wrong, but win 2k doesnt have the fast user switch, only XP. so why am i getting this message? once i get this the only way to restart outpost is to reboot the pc.
on another occasion, outpost crashed, so went to task manager, and as soon as i end task, the pc just reboots suddenly, no blue creen, no error message, just reboots.
of course, all this info doesnt really help pin point the problem, but as you can tell outpost crashes after a while, maybe a memory leak or something, i dont know, i'm just an end user, but this really needs to be fixed. oh and also, sometimes after crashing outpost tells me to send all files in [install dir]/log to agnitum. i looked in there but there's nothing....

I have not seen that one yet and I use Mozilla Firebird exclusively and I also use Thunderbird on occasion. I would guess it is related to Outpost. You could try deleteing your modules.ini file, but I don't think that will help in this case.
P.S. - Please post a screen shot as soon as you can get one.
yes, i wwill post a screenie as soon as i can reproduce the problem, but as far as i know, it happens when i leave the pc on for a long time. so i just need to wait...
also when it happens before i shutdown outpost i will test IE as well as OE, and some other programs to see if they get blocked as well
