What is the status of the new version? Do the mods got a beta by now, and how long do we have to continue to wait to get outpost which works on Win2k/Xp and ICS

    Regards
    Drag

  • I hope soon. They have made so many changes to this thing, the only thing that is going to be the same is the name. :D
I know you have been waiting for this, why not become a beta tester?

  • Hello Root,
I know that he's trying to choose the best people for beta testing, but i really don't understand why he's rejecting people that the really want to test the Beta Version. (eg. Me) Sometimes you know, the people which Mikhail thinks that they're not qualified may find major bugs. (Eg, microsoft beta testers are failing to find major bugs where the actual end-users find).

    agree.

Many of the "stable" version they published was really unstable to me. I had to reinstall many things(include the Windows itself) and manually delete the regreistry to get OP run stable. If that happens to M$'s product, I am sure that they will be flammed as hell. However, which software has no bug? It's fine for me as long as it's fixed in a decent time(decent time != monthes).

And not many people have time to do testing, personally I, as a client, just want to use it.

  • Hi Michael, I'm sorry to hear that. I think he is choosing people now with certain combinations of OSs and programs to try to cover the whole spectrum of users. He is also going for people with quite a bit of knowlege about beta testing.
So, he cannot pick everyone that applies now as we already have many beta testers. I imagine he is looking for a combination of many things to make new selections.
I was lucky and got in when the requirements weren't so tight.

  • What a great idea.
    Thanks TACO:):):)

  • It is great to know that the developers are so committed to quality in this day and age of buggy software! :D :)

  • It will be "sooner" rather than "Later" :p :D :p  :) :p

  • If ICS support was working in RC 1, then why was it removed??

  • If you want to use Outpost Pro with W2K/XP's ICS, do what I'm doing until version 2 comes out. Use an older version of Outpost Pro that is fully compatible with ICS. I've been using version 1.0.1220.2238 (which I think was Release Candidate 1). It works great. I use this version on the ICS gateway PC. On my LAN clients, I use the most current version of Outpost Free. Here is the link to download it.

  • So there was still no answer to the question. I know the standard answer is "when it's done", but are we looking at 1 month? 4? 6? I would like just a rough idea myself because I just moved in with somebody where we are sharing through ICS and a can't use OP now. :(

  • @Taco
This is what i am doing, however if Version 1.01220 is working so good why did you install newer versions on your other machines? See :)

    @Root
Thanks man, but to betatest i don't have the time, i just want to have a stable, secure and working system. I also know about the proxy solution, but as i explained earlier, i do not wish to have a proxy, for various reasons.

So if i got that right V2.0 Beta has not been out to the beta testers, and noone knows nothing?

  • I wish I could give you an answer, but I just don't know.
Have you tryed AnalogX Proxy for ICS. Workes great for me and my wife.

  • I'm hoping we'll see the beta version withing two weeks. I know we are getting close.
I have no control over who or how many beta testers there are. I would like to just release the beta to the masses, but then Agnitum gets too much flack from people.

  • Support was not removed, rather when the developers fixed one bug, ICS no longer worked. When they discovered what had happened, it became obvious that to fix it properly was going to take a lot of work, so, ICS had to wait a bit.
We are close to getting the next version for beta testing, and it has been fixed in the new version, along with a BUNCH of other stuff.
I know it's been a long wait. Sometimes it just can't be helped. They did not want to rush out another buggy version.

  • Hello Root,
Mikhail rejects people, eg me when i asked to beta test

  • The release of new version is delayed because lots of employees are on vacations. Guess September will be release month.
