system 2000 boiler? | | Published by: jane 2009-01-07 |
Considering putting a system 2000 boiler system (oil) in my new house, kinda pricey though. What do you guys know about them good and bad?

Well there ya have it, both extremes of the spectrum, only just shy of 3 years apart.
What was oil back in 2004? Less than $2.00/Gal in my neck of the woods, but it's near $2.57 now (just had our tank filled last week).
no but i do remember thrifty ice cream at 5 cents a scoop or cone:D
now it's 99 cents for a single, 1.59 for a double and 1.99 for a triple. it's also been sold to rite aide.
gas came down to 3.17 for regular today at the local station. 6 cents cheaper than costco:eek:

6 cents cheaper then costco?:( My wife (mrs wc)needs to watch that better:)
Ask some old timers what they paid back in for a gallon of #2D heating oil back in say 1940, 1950 and 1960. After you faint ask how much a loaf of good bread was in the market and faint again. I still remember in my mind the ESSO (now EXXON) station selling regular grade leaded gasoline at $026.9 / gallon back in the early 1960s. I was too young to have a need for it back then, but I sure would love those prices now. Any of you remember the little bottles of Coke for 10 cents in the old red vending machines with the crank on the front?
I am a System 2000 dealer in new york and only sell system 2000 I have been in the trade 30 years and have great success with it any trouble i see with it is old timers who dont understand HVAC most are plumbers who will put in any cheep unit and oversize it. I put in a system 2000 and 40 to 50 % savings is not unusal High mass cast iron is dead no good at 3 bucks a gal

3.17 per US GAL?
I have a System 2000 installed in my 3,271 sq. ft. home. It is a fantastic boiler. The installer was great and has installed a couple dozen so far. It is quiet, super efficient, and way ahead electronically to all other makes.
My savings have been about 45-50% on oil usage. I am so glad I got rid of the Burnham super heavy mass boiler. All it did was burn oil at an incredible amount.
Id stick to Burnham, Weil Mclain or even HB Smith They are heavy duty CastIron boilers. The system 2000 is a crappy little steel boiler that isnt worth 10 cents in my opinion :(

first boiler sales call I was using $2.00 a gal. fuel price for savings example The prospect said that fuel will never go to $2.00. At the time fuel was $1.57. I asked What fuel cost when he moved in He tells me $.11 that was 1965.
I Rember White castle in the Bronx at Castle hill ave and the Cross Bronx expressway $.05 a Buger Right down from the Pharmacy with the soda fountian in the back called Vincents and no cell phones.
