im getting a tattoo with my daughters name on. its quite a long name and will come down to about 20cms from my hairline. its going to be in the same place as victoria beckhams.

i was just wondering how much its going to hurt, like on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst.
i already have a tattoo of a small lizard on my hip and found that it didnt really hurt.
all answers are appreciated but preferably from people who have had a tattoo in this place and know what it feels like.

i have one in the same place and i didnt think it hurt. on a scale of 1-10 i would say 3. in fact i am going have another one on my spine in the next couple of weeks. i found that it tickles more than anything.

I have 3 tattoos....but i have one on my lower back and it's right in the middle and the top of it is on my spine and yeah it hurt like hell....it pry hurt like an 8-9.....but it will be worth it.
I have a tattoo in the same place. To me the tattoo on the back of my neck didn't hurt until they get down onto your back.

it will hurt probably 8 bc it hurts alot when tattooing on bone.
and yes drinking caffeine does helpp.
Mine hurt a lot, but after awhile you get a little numb to it. Some spots hurt more than others, but it was a pretty steady pain level of 6 or 7, occasionally jumping up to a 9. A lot of it will also depend on your tolerance and how "heavy-handed" your tattoo artist is.
PS- You can't get herpes from a tattoo, but you can get hepatitis so it is important to get your work done at a reputable and clean establishment! =)
If you're getting it done on bone, it's going to hurt a lot. The more fat/skin on an area the better. My fiance got a flock of seagulls on his back and he was fine but when they were doing a few of them from his side and a bit on his ribs, he said that it hurt a lot and was twitching a lot when he was getting it done.
If you're thinking about having another kid, I would also talk to a doctor about getting the tattoo. Some doctors will not provide an epidural for labour depending on where the tattoo is located.
