I'm getting the words 'Carpe Diem' on my left hip (lower back) and Carpe Noctem on the opposite side. I'm going to use very basic simple font, and it's going to be SMALL.

    1) Roughly, how much would that cost?
    2) Can some one EXPLAIN how they ink you? I know the basics, but how deep does the needle sink in, and is it true it numbs out after a while.
    3) How long should that tattoo take to do?
    4) How much do you think it would hurt for me.. The girl who wanted to die when she got her belly pierced.
    5) Do you think I would ever regret this tat? I mean, I love it (ADORE IT), it has so much significance in my life, but I don't want to ever get tired of it. Do you think I will?
    6) How long does it take to fully heal?

    Thanks for your time.

  • Good advise from yaygoval.
    Here's my take:
2 tattoos, script should be at least 1/2" tall for it to age well without blurring... $100 per hour - at least that plus tip (down payment to make an appointment - small amount)
Talk to your tattoo artist to best explain and reassure you about the needle depth and how it works and what they do and what to expect (you'll feel better hearing it from them)
There is no way to tell you how you will feel, but just breathe and hold still - with the goal of getting a fine job done (if you move your tattoo suffers, especially with script) - relax, distract yourself and just hold still .. you will not die from this!
I cannot tell you what you will or will not regret in life. This answer will only become evident in time. My advise is to know if you want it now and why and get it or not based on those answers,... if you get it, make it a decision that you are proud of, that is meaningful and a part of who you are, and never feel that you ever have to explain it to anyone, it will be a part of you, like a scar, or your eye color, or how you walk, and what your laugh sounds like. (so what's to regret?)
Take aftercare seriously, knowing that the artist has done his/her part, and how you care for it during healing will make all the difference in the world as to the end result. Follow instructions religiously. Takes 2 -3 weeks to heal initially, you can get touch ups after that, and after it heals (only after) use sunblock forever.

Good luck with you decisions in your life. Once you make them, don't look back, keep going and always do the best that you can.

  • 1. depends on where you live most places have a minimum charge of $75ish... visit some places make sure they're clean and talk to them thats the best you can do.
    2. i can't explain it... but it hurts I'm not gonna lie... for me it hurt more on the fatty tissue than the bone. (and my belly button was easy for me =))
    3. it could take 20 min to 40 min depending on if you want shading or color.... or the tattoo artist in gen.
    4...
5... honestly i regret my lower back... and i cant even see it, i am getting it covered which i probably will regret even more in 10 years... but i was a stupid 17 year old and all my friends were doing it.
    6. What I'm thinking of what you're telling me a week or 2. make sure to keep it moisturized, it will scab and fall off on its own dont pull the scabs off (big mistake)
and make sure you don't expose it to sunlight!!!

    phew!!!

  • 1) Roughly, how much would that cost?
I'd say anywhere from $100-$200. It all depends on colors, shading, details, time, and the quality of the artist.

    2) Can some one EXPLAIN how they ink you? I know the basics, but how deep does the needle sink in, and is it true it numbs out after a while.
Everyone feels pain differently. It might feel numb, it might not. Ink is set into the dermal layer of skin, in the middle.

    3) How long should that tattoo take to do?
It really depends. No offense, but "it's going to be SMALL" really tells us nothing about the size. My idea of small is around fist sized. Others may disagree.

    4) How much do you think it would hurt for me.. The girl who wanted to die when she got her belly pierced.
Again, pain is different for everyone.

    5) Do you think I would ever regret this tat? I mean, I love it (ADORE IT), it has so much significance in my life, but I don't want to ever get tired of it. Do you think I will?
These are fairly personal questions. We don't know you. We don't know what this tattoo means to you.

    6) How long does it take to fully heal?
It should begin to peel within a week. Healing can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month.

  • 1) $100-$200

    2) When you first get in the chair, he/she alcohols the spot and shaves it. Then he/she puts this cream on you (I don't know what it was, I should of asked but I'll ask next time.) After that he/she asks if you are ready, then when you give the ok, he/she dips the needle in ink and starts tattooing. They don't puncture the skin all the way because then your body will just clean it out of your system. It has to go about 4-5 skin layers I think, not sure; so, it will stay on your skin forever. And as far as the numbing goes, it's kind of true, after awhile the skin does go numb because your endorphins kick in, but the minute it becomes numb, the tattooist will pull the tattoo gun away to put more ink in and now you basically started from square 1.

    3) Depends on how good you are on the chair, if you start moving or squirming it will take longer, but if you are really good and stay still, I'd say no longer than 4 hours tops.Well, actually it also depends on how well your skin take in the tattoo. Like when my bf got a tattoo of chinese writing down his forearm, it took the tattooist like 4 times to go over it because his skin was just not taking it. Each 3' character was like 30-45 minutes long (there were 6 in all). When the tattooist tattooed me (a 3' nautical star) it only took one layer of ink because my skin took it in very well that he didn't need to go over it with another layer. So, I was only on the chair for about an hour.

    4) Lol, that's funny, but piercing goes all the way through the skin, while tattoos only goes as deep as 5 layers or something like that. It will hurt because well when doesn't it hurt when you are being poked with a needle? (sometimes you bleed.) But it is bearble, the pain is like an annoying pain that you want to slap away. It feels like someone taking a nail and dragging it across your skin and pushing a little hard, where it breaks the skin but not enough to pierce it. And when they go over some of the same spot, it then feels like a nail getting dragged across an open scratch/wound.

    5) Who know but you yourself. You might like it a lot right now but change your mind down the road when you mature or even get sick of looking at it when you are a parent. But that is not the case for everyone, you might still like it a lot when you are 45.

    6) Well, it takes about 1-2 weeks for the outside to heal, like when the scaping and flaking is done. But it takes about 3 months for the inside to heal and be normal like it was before you tattooes that spot.
