I know i can run one live instance of my Vb board and one test one in a locked directory....
But what I want to do is install a test one of the 3.5 and then when I have finished playing with it ( which will hopefully coincide with 3.5 being declared stable ) I will make it go live AS A SECOND BOARD

Technically it shouldn't be a problem.
The only problem I see is that the test board you're running is not for the board the license is for. Personally I'd buy the license now, to forgo any problems.
On one of my projects we've been working on testforum for over a year now, and we've had a license for it during this time.
You could have it locked away, then when 3.5 is stable, buy a licence and reupload the files for that licence. or am i wrong?
