After thinking about the origins of the atomic bomb and its relationship with my life and my beliefs--I wrote the following prose-poem which I hope some readers here find interesting.-Ron Price, Tasmania:cool:
-------------------------------------------------
In reference to the Trinity Test in New Mexico where the USA痴 Los Alamos team first tested the atomic bomb, Dr. Robert Oppenheimer quoted words from the Bhagavad Gita: "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendour of the mighty one. Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." Trinity was the first test of technology for a nuclear weapon. It was conducted on 16 July 1945 in New Mexico. This test used the same conceptual design for the bomb dropped on Nagasaki Japan on 9 August 1945. I had just turned one year old at the time. On An Overgrown Path: The radiance of a thousand suns:: If the radiance of a thousand suns. Were to burst at once into the sky, That would be like the splendor of the Mighty One I am become Death, http://www.overgrownpath.com/2005/11/radiance-of-thousand-suns.html?showComment=1133293440000HOME |
The creation of nuclear weapons arose out of political and scientific developments of the late 1930s. The rise of fascist governments in Europe and new discoveries about atoms in the 1930s converged in the plans of the United States, the UK and Canada to develop powerful weapons. The Baha段 administrative order had, by then, just developed sufficiently to launch the first stage of its world teaching Plan. From January 1944 to July 1945, large-scale production plants were set in operation to provide the plutonium for the bomb.-Ron Price with thanks to Wikipedia. The first stage of the mission
set out by 羨bdu値-Baha had
been triumphantly concluded
as had one of the darkest and
most tragic periods in history.
The first century of this New
Era and the first epoch of the
Formative Age had ended &
a spiritual conquest痴 opening
phase, a new sovereignty over
an old world, indeed, the whole
planet, under this Plan was soon
to be inaugurated by a vanguard
of torchbearers, battalions of a
spiritual, reconstructed, world
redeeming civilization--the initial,
unnoticed clash of the forces of
darkness and the new, obscure
army of light and enlightenment.
A Dispensation which posterity
would recognize as the most
glorious and momentous in the
greatest cycle in the world痴
religious history was driven
by forces which its prosecutors
could not hope to assess, which
might very well be symbolized
by the radiance of those thousand
suns in that Trinity Test in July
1945 when...... I was just one
year old in Hamilton Ontario
a son of Lillian and Fred Price.
.....and when world-shaking,
world-reverberating, world-
embracing, world-directing
institutions were taking their
first shaping in the womb of
our travailing age and epochs.
