I have a user that has a renamed Sent Items folder. He says he did not do it. The original Sent Items folder is now just a common sub-folder in his Inbox. He claims he did not move it. All sent mail gets placed in this renamed folder which bears the unique Sent Items icon.
Now all the help menus say that you cannot reanme or move this special type of folder. I have not found anything on Microsoft KB to tell me if and how this can be done. The closest KB I found was one talking about programatically renaming folders. NOMAD: FAQs Outlook/Entourage:: A trifold has been publish to assist with this action. 2. But the function they provide --MNSFolder::DispGetName-- does not exist in the VBO help menus, and of course the code doesn't work. I've tried to find other code in the help menus but none of the examples I've found works. That's not new to me (been doing VB for 7 years), because 9.9 times out of 10 their code in their examples never work because there is something always missing. I've tried all my old tricks to make their samples work, but I've never wrote code for Outlook before, but I usually find the transitions from one app to the other fairly easy. The short of it is this: Does someone know how to rename the folder back to it's original name either somewhere in the labyrinth of Outlook menus and overdone options and configurations, or through VBO?
Thank you
have you tried opening outlook with the /resetfolders switch?
from run
outlook.exe /resetfolders
note there is a space between the e and /
That did not work. This is an Exchange Client so I wonder if that's why it didn't work. Anyway, I tried your method on the original computer as well as from my office and it didn't work. I suspect I may have to do a rebuild on the server, which is what I don't want.
...but thank you anyway.
