ive got my sims house set up, but they've made no contacts... every time a sim walks past the house i have my sim go to 'greet' them, but the other sim always keeps walking (usually theyre forced to stop and meet).... anyone know whats up with that?.

Sims 1 or Sims 2?
If it's Sims 2, it sounds like the lot may have become corrupted. Does this happen on every lot or just this one? If the lot is actually corrupted you may need to move the sims out of that house and into a new one.
You can try using the Lot Debugger.

Go into the folder for your newest expansion pack, then into Hacks and download the file lotdebugger.zip. Unzip it into your Downloads folder. You can then find it in buy mode under misc > The Sims 2 for PS2 buy PlayStation 2 Games online at Games Warehouse ::

misc. It's a box and depending on which version you have it will be either a yellow box with a red arrow or a black box with the batman symbol on it. Have a sim click on it and see what options you have under Nuke. Try nuking everything. If you select to nuke sim schedulers your maid, nanny and gardener will no longer come so you will need to re-hire them.
You can also try forcing errors on all onworld and all offworld and when the error box comes up select to reset. If you experienced a reset (eg. by installing an expansion or stuff pack) while a sim was on the phone or at work, you may have "offworld lurkers" on your lot, ie. the game thinks that the person your sim was talking to on the phone is actually on the lot when they are in fact not there. Forcing an error on onworld and offworld lurkers and resetting them will usually solve this problem.

If none of this works, it would seem that the lot has become corrupted for whatever reason and your sims will need to move to another house. Since nobody else will be able to live there, I would suggest also bulldozing the lot afterwards. If you really like the house you can always draw out a plan on paper and make another copy for your sims to move into later.

hehe The Sims, my addiction. have you got all the expansion packs cause that happened to me when i only had livin large installed then once i got house party and then hot date in that problem went away as there were more social interactive components in those expansions.
I'd say your best bet is getting the expansion packs and getting them installed in order!!!
i don't have deluxe but it isn't totally necessary as the manual i have says to have them installed as follows....

it is best to put a expansion and then have about 5 hours worth of play on it to build up your sims knowledge etc so that the more complex expansion like unleashed and superstar are easier to play
oh and one last thing if you already have house party... go to the phone in your house and select invite to party cause even if you have no friends ppl will come to a party.. and if your party is really good drew cary might turn up
