1: why is it, Mediums say not to use a Quija board, yet they use them themselves? Surely, a spirit could attack them just the same, more easily, because they're more "open".

2: what is the difference (if any) between a Quija board, and a Seance (paper letters in a circle, with a glass in the middle)

Its all rubbish thats why, do you not wonder why Toys R Us sell so called ouija boards?

Where are you getting your information? None of it reflects what I've seen, and I've been a student of various types of mysticism and divination for nearly 50 years.
Just for the record the Ouija was invented as parlor game in 19th century, patented as such, and is still sold as a game by Parker Bros, a real Medium would know that. A Seance is any ceremony used to allow communication with the dead, the props you describe may be used, but they are not a requirement, a real Medium would know that too.

The great Houdini spent half his life exposing them all over the world during his tours, James Randi amongst others is continuing his good work.

Did you know for instance that before he died, Houdini told his wife to expect calls from mediums/psychics telling her that they had contacted him and that the now dead Houdini admitted to them that he had been wrong all along and apologised?

He was right of course, and she received the predicted calls, what the mediums did not know (and she didn't tell them) was that Houdini had given her a coded message which they would have to repeat before continuing, she never did receive the code and she didn't tell anyone about it until she to was near death herself.

Randi will give any of you so called 'real' mediums $1,000,000 if you can prove you can communicate with the dead, a protocol for such a test would be easy to draw up.
