I know this may be a stupid question, but if I do not ask, I will never know and needs must as the devil drives... Is there some program or utility that will turn ASP into PHP?
:hmmmm:
Steve
I'm afraid that our real powerhouse in this category, Bindel, is no longer frequenting these forums. Sorry you got no bites on this one.

But seriously, asp is easier to learn because it does a hell of a lot less than php. :P VoyForums: Whites treasure hunters:: None of us will forget this nightmare. My dear Animgirl (I'm a patronising old git),
Take the time to check it out. If you are in to PHP and MySQL then ASP is for you. It is easier to learn, better to utilise and more functional.
I am of an age where digital watches are still a neet idea. Calculators were banned from my school and Neil Armstrong was my hero. Coding does not come easy for me so any advantages are a god-send.
I tried for weeks to use PHP to write a search and display page with very disapointing results. I then tries ASP and got EXACTLY what I wanted in just one week.
MySQL is slow and old. Make one mistake in the (very long and tedious) coding and you have to do it ALL over again.
The reason I wanted the converter was because my ISP didn't support ASP (another story all together).
Thanks Animgirl, I knew it was spelt wrong but my brain went dead (some people would say it was never alive). When you are up at 02.30 am and can't have a coffee, getting the dictionary is too much effort.
I must now turn to the back of my computer and write it out twenty times, achieve...achieve...
acheave=achieve

Dynasty, as I said in my previous post - make one mistake in MySQL and you have to re-do the entire lot all over again. I tried to use PHP for exactly the reasons you stated. I had very little success with it. I then changed to ASP and got everything I wanted. Quicker.
Perhaps you should stop taking the piss and think about it. What do you want, a script that only does half of what you want or one that does it all.
Answers on a postcard please...
The answer is yes. There is a program called php2asp out there. There is also one called access2mysql.
Since no one tried to help me on this one (even a negative responce) I will keep the links to myself.
I kinda think we have met half way. I agree that if PHP is your thing then you can acheave (is that spelt right) almost anything. I could not get in to PHP. ASP, for me is easier. So, there I will agree with you 100%.
Perhaps this thread is ended now, unless Animgirl has more to add...
David,
Not only are you still welcome here, you have been sorely missed. Welcome back. :)
Joe
I won't deny that in some situations ASP can acheive results quicker than php, because it can.
The MySQL mistake thing isn't exactly right, I make many mistakes in mysql as I go along, but none of the mistakes have ever forced me to go back to the start and redo everything, sometimes I made a mistake with the table definition, so I changed a tiny part of it.
It all really depends on what you know as to what you should use, if you know ASP then yes you will make things in ASP quicker than PHP.
