Th reason could be a corrupted file. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game to see if it works. You can save the save game folder at another location so that you wont have to play all over again.
I hope its a legal copy that you are using because generally pirated copies have messed up installation files sometimes that reult in such random crashes.
