Is there a shipping company in the Elizabethtown, KY area who will
confirm ability and willingness to transport 12, 10 foot tall globe
hornbeam trees from a tree farm in Elizabethtown, KY to Fairfield
County, CT ? Trees could be part of a "partial shipment" to CT, but
they can not be set-in a truck sideways, and must be delivered w/in 36
hours of shipment.
Hello -
Thanks for your question.
Can they be on an open trailer?

yes. the trees can be placed on a flat-bed truck, provided that they can still
be properly secured. I expect that the tree farm will assist in
wrapping each tree to guard against any wind damage etc., during
shipment.
I have found one company that can do it. The trees would be upright,
but leaning; is this OK?
jbf777
thanks. you you have a feel for the "degree of the lean? sorry for the
question, but it does matter when it comes to the branches taking on
weight and
potentially breaking. can you give me clarity on whether you are
speaking to a flatbed or a box-truck.
No problem...
With regard to the degree of leaning, they tell me it's up to how the
nursery loads them (as they are the ones who do the loading). I
suppose you could tell the nursery how you wanted them loaded. It's
on a flatbed.

great! what are the next steps?
Hello coombser -
Thanks for your question. Here's the official answer:
I've contacted a good number, if not all of the trucking companies in
Elizabethtown. I've confirmed with one of them named "Kevin Lucas
Trucking" to have transportation ability to Connecticut, way within
your 36-hour requirement. They have specific experience in shipping
trees. They ship them upright but leaning on an angle, on a flatbed
truck.

In addition, there's a chance a company called Cen-Ken may be able to
offer shipping as well:
