So, I downloaded the newest XBMC build and went to install it like I always do.
- Turned on the Xbox and had it load to XBMC
- Deleted the XBMC folder using Filezilla
- Tried to transfer over new XBMC folder from my computer using Filezilla
- Says too many connected users, still lets me go through the folders on the xbox despite that.
- I back out of the XBMC screen that was up and it his a black screen.
- I figure maybe I can just use my EvoX Boot CD to do the FTPing
- Nope, now it doesn't load anything at all, it just goes to the Xbox Logo screen and freezes.
What do I do??
:(
Sorry but I am very unfamiliar with EEPROM.
I know enough to not do anything on this, but you say it may have been changed. Is there some way I could of accidentally modified this without even knowing it?
Anyone else have this problem on a softmod box? Anyone have a solution? Chip it?

I said not client, but yes - I missed the fact that it had the folder name (resolution) missing.

This is probably the problem. For whatever reason it thinks you have an invalid resolution set in the EEPROM. What sort of modchip are you using? NTSC xbox, or PAL? What AV pack is connected? What mods (if any) have you done to the video out?
Grab a debug log by holding down X+Y on startup and we'll have a bit more info.
Cheers,

Nothing ever worked, I have been constantly trying stuff since this thread.
The X2 Bios does not load when holding the clear button in Port 1.
No error code ever pops up, it just sticks at the XBOX screen as it looks for xbmc.xbe
No error code pops up, so I can't hotswap the drive.
WHAT CAN I DO AT THIS POINT??? Is there anybody I can send this off to? Otherwise I just lost 300GB of data I've been working on for the past 3 years. :(
I can't tell you anything else than what the running XBMC's log is telling you. The skin you are running is NOT the skin from the latest T3CH SVN release. Hi -89-,
1) Can you boot to the X2 BIOS at this point?
The X3 BIOS can be accessed by holding the Clear button on the controller (in Port 1) before turning on the xbox ... this may work for you.
2) Did you keep a copy of the stock partitions for recovery purposes?
If you can get to the BIOS, you may be able to reset the partitions to stock and proceed from there.
3) Did you change the drive?
If you changed your HDD, I suggest leaving your stock partitions untouched in the future and using F/G partitions for your mod stuff.

89, any luck booting your xbox? I have the exact same problem. Any help would be most appreciated.
I used Slayers CD and installed XBMC onto the F drive. . . it seems to be working.
I am still interested to know what the original problem was though.
I am using an X3 chip on an NTSC box. I have done any other mods regarding the AV pack.
XBMC acted as my main dashboard via the shortcut. Thus, I can't FTP, I can't access anything, I can't do anything on my Xbox.
Corrupt skin. It's loading from the correct folder, but the files appear corrupt.
As I said earlier: Use the XBMC fatal error handler as the FTP server, and make re-upload the entire skin for a start.
XBMC acted as my main dashboard via the shortcut. Thus, I can't FTP, I can't access anything, I can't do anything on my Xbox.
That is the reason why I will not install XBMC as a main dashboard. If I were you, after you get this all fixed I would use UNLEASHX and also XSELECT and then set up XBMC as the default dash.
But as of right now trying to help you, sorry but I don't have any good suggestions. If anything I would completely start all over. Flash your chip and start over. It may not be what you want to hear, but at least this should resolve your problem. If your adamant in trying to solve this while keeping your games/saves/etc..., then keep researching the forums. I realize what I have to do to prevent this from happening in the future and I understand what I did incorrectly. But, in the present, I really have to get this thing fixed.
From what I understand, I can unlock the hard drive by hotswapping and put it in my computer to throw XBMC back on the drive and that will completely fix the problem. Problem is, I just have a laptop computer and a USB hard drive enclosure, so I can't hot swap and I have no access to a desktop computer to do the hotswapping.
What do I do? :(
If there's any way I can send this to somebody for them to throw XBMC back on here, I will pay shipping and extra as long as everything is back as it used to be. I have a Xecuter 2, to my knowledge, but honestly I can't even find the damn thing on the motherboard to check and see if it has a switch, I just looked. I got this thing modded a couple of years back on xbox-scene and the guy told me he put an xecuter2 modchip in it, not soft mod.
The way I had my xbox booting XBMC was changing the main shortcut to point to the default.xbe in the XBMC folder. So, since I did the stupid way of upgrading XBMC, I deleted the entire directory, so there is no apps/XBMC/default.xbe for the xbox to point to. This is the opening sequence:
- XECUTER2 LIVE LOADING SCREEN -
- BLUE XBOX LOGO POPS UP -
- XECUTER TEAM LOGO POPS IN AFTER THAT ANIMATION IS DONE -
- LOCKS -
I know loading XBMC and deleting the directory and then putting it back on there with a new version while have XBMC up and not another FTP program was dumb now, but it's how I've upgraded my XBMC like 10 times in the past 2 years, so I didn't think anything of it. At this point I'm doing damage control.
I need to get that XBMC folder back on there so there is a default.xbe for my xbox to load up.
I used my Slayers 2.6 boot disc, but nothing is loading up not even retail discs, it just sticks at that screen.

Okay so I have update and some troubleshooting info:
So I was able to get XBMC working. To make a very long story short I installed a STABLE BUILD from T3CH, folder called [XBMC (Slayer)], and it works fine.
I then created and renamed another folder, [XBMC (backup)], as my testing application to try new builds and also other tweaks.
I uploaded T3CHs SVN build (XBMC-SVN_2007-11-04_rev10675-T3CH) and it freezes on start-up. I posted this same problem elsewhere on this forum, but cannot seem to locate it.
In any event enclosed is the DEBUG FILE:
http://pastebin.com/m6f45cd8b
Now you will see that XBMC is trying to access several files in '...skinProject Mayhem III' specifically (in order):
includes.xml
ntscfont.xml
Pointer.xml
DialogVolumeBar.xml
DialogSeekbar.xml
DialogKaiToast.xml
DialogMuteBug.xml
soundssounds.xmlNow with the exception of #2 and #8, all the other xml files do not exist. They do not exist even on the XBMC I have that works. So then why is XBMC looking for this?
Futhermore, #2 and #8 do exist in the locations and have been verified as being present on the backup XBMC. . . so if this is the case, then why do these (2) not load?
Hopefully someone can make sense of this. Sorry if I confused you.
PS - How do I get a window to show on this post with the scroll bar, so I can show the code? Cause all I know what to do is post the link.
Thanks and Thanks!
JSP62: It's not a debuglog. X+Y on bootup, then FTP in while it's running. If you don't see the DEBUG lines, it's not a debuglog. If you have to re-run XBMC to get to fatal error handler for FTP purposes afterward, it'll be xbmc.old.log (log file from previous run).
Gotcha!
Okay so I did the X+Y the next time I started XBMC. Of course the screen froze with the logo and I had to restart in my X3 bios.
I FTP'd into my xbox and grab the debug file.
Enclosed is the original xbmc.log:

And also enclosed is the xbmc.old.log, which has the X+Y debug info:

Follow this link if you're having problems getting to your dash to FTP. This lets you FTP via PC -> XBOX.
I'm having a similar problem, but I suppose I should start my own thread rather than poop on yours. :)
Possibly - no idea to be honest.
As I said, a full debug log when it's failing in that same way will likely give more information.
Looks like I still have an error. I reinstalled onto the E drive. Debug log enclosed

You should have setup the shortcut xbe so that it had a useable fallback, as noted in the online manual. That way if the default.xbe is not present in the XBMC folder, it boots one of the fallback dashes instead.
Note that if original games don't work (from the DVD drive) then that has nothing to do with XBMC - it is my understanding that booting from the DVD drive does not require the harddisk "dash" files to be in place at all. It may take a couple of goes though, depending on the DVD drive type.
use pastebin to show us your debug log and maybe we can help.

Will have a log issued shortly. Now that I got Slayers XBMC working. I am completely erasing all XBMC folders I have tried/tested (5 installations combined from E and F). I am going to clean up my drive and install fresh with AID onto my E drive. If it works then no more problems.
BUT (and I am hoping that it doesn't) if it doesn't,
I'll post the log. So FYI disregard anything from the previous log.
Thanks and will replay shortly
I can't run any discs whether it be a Xbox game that isn't a bootleg or the Slayers boot up disc auto-installer. I can't bring up any error codes or anything.
It just sticks at the Xbox Logo screen with the Xecuter2 logo at the bottom. There isn't a switch on my mod chip or anything, I actually think my BIOs just got flashed as opposed to an actual mod chip being installed.
I deleted the XBMC folder while I had XBMC up in the music menu. I'm pretty sure there isn't a Default.xbe anymore. I have it set up where my main thing is a shortcut which points to the default.xbe in my XBMC folder so XBMC auto starts when I turn my Xbox on. But now, nothing is there and it won't read any discs. My disc drive is not messed up. The Xbox keeps trying to find the default.xbe in my XBMC folder, but it isn't there anymore so it just keeps trying to find it there over and over and over again and stays at that Xbox logo screen and never goes further.
The skin you are running there is NOT the one that came from the build you go the xbe from.
PM3 has been version 2.1 for quite some time - not version 2.0.
I am downloading directly from T3CHs website. I downloaded specifically the SVN build not the STABLE one.
Your skin is not uploaded correctly.
You're probably using some crappy FTP server on the xbox. Use the fatal error handler (white + Y I think?) and upload the skin again.
Really? I am using FlashFXP, what are you using?
Also a have spoken with another person and they acknowledged that there are no such FILES located in the folder, where it shows on the log (i.e. home.xml or pointer.xml are not in skins/Project Mayhem III).
The only file I have in Project Mayhem III is the skin.xml file.
Then I have the following folders: 720p, 1080i, colors, fonts, media, ntsc, ntsc16x9, pal, pal16x9, and sounds.
Am I reading your response wrong ? I have uploaded from the AID disk and also downloaded directly from T3CHs latest build all without success. I am currently going to try Slayers Evox CD, but doubtful this will help either.

I am in the same boat as you!
I cannot get mine to work and I posted on several forums without any luck.
Thus far the only thing that I can find is a problem with the xml files.
Take a look at your xbmc.log file. Mine is trying to access .xmls that do not even exist!
I have no clue why it points to the folder and the specific file (which is not located there).
Anyone with ideas please let me know!

If it isnt booting DVDs then it is probably a bios problem, try putting the CD/DVD in the drive shutting off the xbox and then turning it back on. If you can get it to boot up slayers then you should be able to FTP and fix the problem.
Thanks Sleepy.
I posted before and no one even responded to me.
