I hope that if you do visit the lower Manhattan area that you show more respect than you just have.
It is like travelling anywhere else. If you want to see the worst you are entitled to go there as well. Also Manhattan is very expensive even for Americans it has nothing to do with the exchange.
Why not look for the good stuff. Desert in Little Italy, the museums, dinner and a nice steak house, Skating in Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Empire State Building.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is on December 3rd.
Try the Bryant Park The Union Square Park Holiday Market.
If you can't find something at the site below I can't help help you.
I wouldn't go there you won't sleep.. I don't think the people in NYC have beds (The City That Never Sleeps) :-)
AWESOME! It is pretty (if you are a city person!) They Have Hershey and m n m! i love it! Your chances are one in a million! Iv been there a lot! The Makeup Show, NYC: It's Like Disney for Makeup Artists:: May 15, 2008 This weekend The Makeup Show will be in NYC, running May 18th and 19th. Even though it sounds like the Disney World of makeup, it's actually http://makeup.about.com/b/2008/05/15/the-makeup-show-nyc-its-like-disney-for-makeup-artists.htmHOME |
Depending on which area of NYC one lives, it can range from hell to paradise.
Crowded, loud, and awesome.
Its cold at this time, its always dirty, always loud, horns blowing from every direction, and people just move so fast. Its very easy to get lost in but a small trip there is good, I couldn't live there personally, but I do visit on occasion.
cold and windy right now
NYC as far as temperature it is cold cold cold today. As far as the city it is busy with people of all backgrounds. It is filled of tourist and and people who are working. Restaurants, bars, shows, buildings are plentiful. Its a pricey city but its awesome!!
I've been to ground zero multiple times, and I have never seen any protesters. I think you'll be fine.
brillant not as nice as LA but still fab !! great 4 shopping and great for just everything !!!
Cold, windy, crowded but beautiful
Despite what CAE said, yes, the exchange rate is v. bad at the moment. I mean 1$ - £0.60, when I got here it was $2 - £1 - so yeah! Pretty big difference. However things are still comparatively cheap compared to most places in the UK due to the lower taxes and the fact that everything works out as the same price in dollars as it would be in pounds, so still a fair discount.
I fail to see what is so disrespectful about what he said about 9/11? Anyway, I would say your chances of running into a 9/11 conspiracy theorist is very low. There isn't even really a place for them to gather around Ground Zero now, if they ever did, its just a huge sealed off building site.
What you did get a lot of, was hobo's eulogising Obama for a week after he was elected but now that seems to have stopped - I can't have been the only person to notice this (it is also merely an observation, not a political statement!).
Apart from that, what is it like in NYC? Busy in parts, quiet in parts, most things are expensive but you can find a lot of things (especially good food) for next to nothing, multicultural, gay friendly, loads of things to do with kids, plenty of fun for adults and loads of other things too.
my mum has just got back and she said it was massive, she aches from walking everywhere and the exchange rate makes everything not worth buying. her pics make it look like picadilly circus in london! central park views look nice but apart from that, nowt much.
