This is not the first time that I have seen Catholics post these types of questions.
No offence to Catholics, but I really want an answer as to why so many don't understand that they are Christians.

help please!
They must not worship Christ then. This is news to me.
Catholics do not follow the teachings of Christ and in that sense are not Christians
THAT person does not believe they are not Christian.
THAT person is asking why some people refer to themselves as "Christians" to the exclusion of most other Christians, and those "Christians" are the ones who do not believe that Catholics are Christian.
READ the question that you posted. They said "I don't see the difference..."
She was probably puzzled by the questions "Christians" post about Catholics not being Christians. That's my take on it. If I came to this Q&A place cold turkey, and I didn't know anything about other Christians' attitudes towards Catholics, I would be asking the same question. It's not that she doesn't know. It's that she's wondering why other Christians are differentiating themselves from other Christians (who happen to call themselves Catholic.) The Catholic church doesn't call other Christians "Christians". They are rightly called "Protestants".

I'm pretty sure most Catholics do in fact know that they are a sect of Christianity. Thats one of the first things they learn.
Catholics are not all gun-ho on Christianity like other Christians are. They are less open about it because they keep their religion to themselves where as other Christians are all about witnessing.
What is the reason that "some" "Christians" don't know that they are not Christians?
It's because they hear that ridiculous crap from Protestant fundamentalists all the time that Catholics aren't Christians. So they want to know why that's being said, that's all.
I've never met a Catholic who didn't know they were a Christian. I've seen some Catholics, like the one at the link you posted - and mostly younger kids - who didn't understand what the Fundies are saying or the hatred behind it, and wanted to know what the deal was. Yeah, so they need to know that they were the first Christian church, that the Catholic church invented Christianity, created Christianity's doctrines, foundations, and its rules.
Those who left Catholicism and began the offshoot called Protestantism left ORIGINAL Christianity and began practicing a different form, changed some of the doctrines and rules, etc. so they are not actually practicing ORIGINAL Christianity.
These are the things these Catholic kids need to know. And for that matter, so do the Protestant kids who will otherwise just parrot the idiocy their parents spout and grow up believing it.
It's just a matter of confused Catholic kids who hear that kind of idiocy and then wonder about it, that's all. They want to know what the deal is.
P.S. I wouldn't exactly trust that Trina is a Catholic. If she were, she wouldn't be parroting the crap that the Protestant Fundamentalists spread. But that's what she's doing, so I doubt if she is actually a Catholic or she wouldn't be taking that type of nonsense as fact.
You are looking at one question, and not the numerous answers given by many Catholics that know what they are talking about. There are many good answers there. So tell me,
what's the reason for there being "some" stupid people in your church?
I myself am Catholic. I am a Christian. People do ask me what denomination I am and then when I tell them I am Catholic, they ask me if I am a Christian. When people started to separate from the Catholic Church, other separations occurred as well. I believe this is one of them. I need to point out that I am a convert so I do look at things a little differently as compared to those who are raised through the Faith. There are little undertones of "spiritual prejudice" for those raised through the Faith. They identify themselves as Catholic and all other denominations believing in Jesus are referred to as Christian as tho it were a lesser kind of title. I am still referred to as a convert to the Faith. Labeling different groups of people is a bad habit that society still has yet to break..
I am Catholic. We are not Christians. Our beliefs are much different from a Christian. If you know anything about Catholics you would realize that. Christians don't believe in Praying to Virgin Mary, Saints, and they only believe you pray to god. They are nothing like Christians. Now this isn't the first time I heard this so I went to check it out for myself and went to a Christian Church! Believe me we are nothing alike!
She is likely young and doesn't know, or was told by non-Catholics that she is not Christian. When I was a Catholic, I often had protestants and such tell me that Catholics were not "Christians" or "true Christians".
I think the part where she said "I'm not really religious" answers your question.
What the *********** are you talking about?
Perhaps some Catholics do not understand they are Christians because the hundreds of Protestant denominations render Christianity unrecognizable to Catholics.
Because she is not Catholic, if she was catholic she would know better than that.
