National City, San Diego Bay, California:: National City, San Diego Bay, California tide table for waterfront recreation Note: predictions for some locations do not cover the full span of years. http://www.mobilegeographics.com:81/locations/4072.htmlHOME | I'll be staying in National City(south of San Diego)this weekend and have never been there before. Is there anything interesting to do there for somebody visiting?
Also how far is San Diego from there...the Gaslamp, Downtown, Old Town districts? How can I get there and how long will it take me?
Is there a subway system there?
Thanks!
In national city? NOTHING. maybe the mall, plaza bonita. it is not far from san diego at all. i used to live in logan heights a community in the city of San diego, and it was next to downtown (gaslamp is in downtown) anyway, national city was right next to where i lived. so you'll be pretty close, like 8-10 minutes by car or so. you can take the bus to a certain destination, and then take the trolley into downtown. you won't have muc trouble finding the bus OR the trolley since they are everywhere in san diego. just ask at your hotel and they'll let you know how to get there. i would recommend renting a car though since some of the places you mentioned like old town are in a different part of town. it would probably be a hassle getting over there from national city. oh, i just saw your other question. there is NO subway in san diego. instead there are buses and trolleys. are you from back east? subways are unheard of in the west coast.
oh, btw, old town, no one really lives there it is definitely more of a tourist attraction. i only went there once for a week in the 4th grade. no one that i know of in san diego actually says 'let's go hang out in old town' but it is cool for the restaurants or the whaley house, lol.
i would recommend going to coronado(not far from national city about 15 mins) or mission beach. something closer to national city would also be balboa park. it is inexpensive and has tons of museums and also houses the world famous san diego zoo.another plus, is that the neighborhood it's situated in is close to downtown. in the gaslamp district be sure to check out horton plaza mall, you could easily spend your whole day there. anyway, i think i said enough.
hope this helped and maybe slightly answered your question
You can take the trolly to downtown, and you may want to consider a trip to coronado, It's pretty damn close to national city. But as for national city itself, you're not gonna have much fun there.
