It really depends on do u want to keep the files ir not... If u do I would suggest u use a cd-r because it will be saved on permanently and u can't delete it by accident. But if you would like to save it there temporaliy use a cd-rw so you can erase it afterwards. DataStash - Data Backup Service FAQ::

Depends if you want to reuse the CD later on, if you don't then it's cd-r & you may need to format it for using it for files instead of music. Instructions should come up re formatting when you insert the cd.

cd-wr is when you want to delete what's on the cd at one point & reuse the cd again.
I use DVD cause it can back up a bunch....
there's no need of 5 CDs when u can hav 1 DVD....
It's DVD-R..
