Where's the best place to get your first tattoo?

Published by: wktd 2009-01-09

  • I have wanted a tattoo for a really long time. I have spent a long time thinking about places that I would get one and what it would be of. I am not getting a tattoo any time soon, but I know I want one in the future. I really want to get a tattoo representing my dog, he's a chihuahua and his name is Chewy and I love him so much. I am not sure if I should get a tattoo of his name, of him, or something else that will just remind me of him. At first I wanted to get a tattoo on my foot, like on my heel or top of the foot. But then I read that it was really painful and foot tattoo are notorious for fading and coming out blotchy and I definitely don't want that at all. Then I was thinking back of the neck, because I want it some where that is easy to cover up but can still be shown off if I want. I also don't want a big tattoo at all I want a fairly small one. So if you have any suggestions of a tattoo to represent him or a place that would be an idea I would really like to hear.

  • I would think maybe something like a dog bone with his name on it would be neat....but the idea for the tattoo really must be your own (its what makes it so special for you)....really take the time to think about what you want and what would mean the most to you.

A "good spot" is wherever you think it will look the best and where you want it....regardless of how much it will hurt. Especially since you want a small tattoo, it really shouldn't matter. Yes, there are some spots that hurt more than others tough. Basically anything that has more muscle will be less painful....on bone (wrist, ankle, elbow) is where it hurts the most.

  • a clean, well-experienced, professional tatoo parlor will do.

I would get it on the small of my back, if I were you. But, I forgot to check if you're a girl or boy...so if you're a boy, get it on the shoulder or something.

lol! I know, what I just said was REALLY weird. Sorry 'bout that. :)

  • First your idea needs to be something that you create. Or get with an artist give him and idea and let him create something for you, then its an original and a one of a kind... Secondly, ask around your city and see who everyone recommends as the best tattoo artist in your area. Look at his portfolio, they have books you can view before you let them slap ink on you. Depending on where you are located some places have more then 10 or 12 shops.. Then there are some places that only have one shop that is well known for certain types of work. If someone recommends a shop ask who the artist is. Find out how many years they have been tattooing, and not to mention make sure that you feel comfortable. Everything in a tattoo shop should be sterile. You need to make sure everything comes out of clean packages, and that they use gloves and you see them open up packages. Dont get a tattoo somewhere just because its cheaper, because you get what you pay for.. but honestly the best way to find an artist is by word of mouth. If someone recommends someone see if he has done work on them or their friends and ask to see it. Especially if its a couple years old, then you get an idea of how good they really are..

Hope this helps. and good luck!
