Which version of *Nix do you recomend for a server running on a PII 500Mhz with 512MB RAM(I know it isn't perfect, but only 1 or 2 websites will be run off of it)?
I am considering either Red Hat, SuSE, Debian, or FreeBSD.
Thanks,
Dennis Wrenn
I personally use RedHat 7.1.
I was a bit reluctant to use Linux at first coming from a FreeBSD background but after using this OS, I can say the performance is very good and administration very easy especially when installing applications for the server. RH 7.1 here too. The RPM's and RedHat's installer make it the easiest distro for beginners to configure properly.
