Because police can't tell who you are if you were a wanted person, Thats how I didnt get caught after escaping Jail, But then I had to get it removed and it wasnt optional nor exiting I also had to get it removed with the olden-day-type tatto removal and it killed like hell! Because they can be offensive to some sensitive people. It is also very hard to get a job with a facial tattoo. They make it illegal because otherwise the person with the tattoo, who is now unable to get a job, could sue the tattoo artist. In England it isn't illegal, but you must sign a waiver to have tattoos on your hands or head.

I think you are mistaken. They are looked down upon, but are perfectly legal.

The only people I know/have seen with facial tats have been former gang members and artsy people who usually do tattoos for a living. Not many average people have them.

They aren't. I've seen plenty of people with them. Most people just aren't silly enough to permanently change their face in this manner.

In the USA to the best of myknowledge they are not.

the tattoo isnt illegal... in fact, you can put what you want wherever you like... you have to live with it... BUT as a rule of thumb, MOST tattoo artists wont do areas which cannot be covered up, hands neck face... but no ones going to jail for a tattoo...

Not illegal, but very unwise. It's there for the rest of the wearer's life. Best to draw it on first and get people's reaction before such a drastic move. I knew someone with a dot under one eye. He told me that it denoted he'd been in Borstal. He was very young when he'd had it done, not thinking that when he got older, people might not want to employ him because of it. I'm not judging anyone - it's their life, their decision, but it's something to be given A LOT of thought!
