...... and then plead poverty when it comes to getting them spayed before they become pregnant again?
I agree, i don't think you should breed your dog just because she's female and she can. I have a female four month old Yorkie and i intend to get her spayedat 6 months as my vet has advised. All i know about breeding is what i have read and that is not enough to risk my little ones life just because puppies are cute. I bought her as a pet not to try making a few quid of her.
Even if someone is too 'strapped' to get their female fixed(which in my opinion, is a lousy excuse) it really isn't that hard to keep a female in heat from mating. It just takes abit of effect from the owner, and it seems these people don't want to do that.
I had a female that due to medical problems, could not under go surgery, and not once in the 7 years I had her did she ever get pregnant. there all pregnant or have kids!!! - MissBimbo.com:: Why dont people use birth control anymore? because people on here seem to think they can breed with out adding to the un wanted pet population even if they do it in there back yard (hence BYB) with no health clearances or even without the puppies being purebred. They are simply un educated. Then when they don't know what to do they come on here and ask a simple question they could have learned the answer to if they had even tried to look it up.....if you are going to breed.....do it RIGHT. I think poverty may be an excuse because it costs more to rear a litter than to pay for a spay. There are thousands of poor people who are dog owners and they manage to give their dogs the care they deserve.
I don't understand it.
Even if you can't afford a spay (I understand about a tight budget) keeping her from getting pregnant is NOT rocket science! We know what causes that these days.
And if you can't afford a spay, you DEFINITELY can't afford to *properly* raise a litter of pups.
Lack of responsibility or think they know how to breed puppies without understanding what they are doing.
Or just in it for the money not the care of the dogs
This is a huge problem in my home town. The Humane Society and local pound are run over with unwanted puppies and kittens. Unless you're a proper breeder I believe that spay/neuter procedures should be mandatory for most household pets. I've never understood how people can take on the responsibility of pet ownership so blindly. Owning a pet costs money and you should be reasonably sure of you finances if you're going to take on that responsibility! You owe it to the pet!
In the end, a spayed or neutered pet will be happier and healthier and they'll live longer! To whomever you were referring to in your question... it's called responsibility...they need to look it up.
same reason that people have animals and then don't look after them properly
it makes me very mad!
I know just what you mean.
I am on a low income (single parent, chose to stay at home for my daughter, so I'm on a Centrelink (Social Security) payment). But we have 17 pets and I can ALWAYS get them to the vet when they need to go.
I just had my girl ferret emergency spayed because she went into season unexpectedly - the previous owner said she'd had a hormone jab and wouldn't go into season for 12 months, she went after 6... This was a week after my Lab x Border Collie went in because I found a lump in his leg.
I have chosen to have all these animals, and so it is my responsibility too see that they have appropriate medical care, even if it means that I buy my clothes from the op shop (which I would do anyway, it's recycling!), and some weeks I eat a lot of rice! (LOL)
Because they are irresponsible dog owners who more than likely let their dog roam as they can't be bothered to walk it themselves or let it run free in the park where there are other dogs (males). A male dog can smell a ***** is season from miles away.
i am with u on this one !
