Why do people think that catholics worship mary and the saints?

a lot of people that arent catholic act like they know all about the religeon.

Why do Catholics believe that they can pray to saints and Mary, yet::
Why do Catholics pray to the Saints and to Mary? .. Catholics worship the Eucharist (what looks like bread) as Jesus Christ Himself.

Catholics pray to Mary and the Saints. That is worship. It is practiced more in some parts of the world than others.

I know. I hate wen people do that. People come on here and are like "if God is so holy, then why does he ask for blood sacrifices?". Amd then there's questions about the bible the questionaires not knowing that Catholics don't take the bible literally. And those two questions u put ther r the worst. People need to chek their facts.

I have answered several times with the sites to prove that Catholics do not worship idols. I wonder why they don't then go back to their churches and ask "why did you lie to me about the Catholic faith." Personally, I would think twice about any church who openly lied to discredit another church.

"Hail Mary full of grace" Might just give the impression that Catholoics worship Mary and saying prayers to the saints might give people the impression that Catholoics worship them too. I know enough about Catholocism (despite the fact that I'm a Taoist) to know that Catholics don't worship anything other than the Holy Trinity, but I thought you might like an informed outsider's opinion.

well, as a former catholic,
I can say that i know what they do.
there is a prayer, to the virgin mary,
You kneell infront of her asking for her "protection"
some people offer things to her if she takes care of the family or whatever needs to be taken care of.
Besides Mary there are so many other "saints" , and they are saints for Every little thing you can imagine. Like the saint of good luck, the saint of jobs, etc.

There is nowhere in the bible where it says that we need saints for anything, even to help with prayer.
Jesus set a prayer and thats how it should be, nothing should be added or taken away from it.

Sounds like worship to me.

The "Ten Commandments" shown in Catholic catechisms leave out the second commandment prohibiting images and divide the last one, prohibiting covetousness, into two. It is a flagrant rejection of a clear command by God! Moreover, that rejection is dishonestly covered up by pretending the command doesn't exist. It is a deliberate deception practiced upon the members of the "Church", most of whom know nothing of the Bible except what the clergy tell them!

When people ask me to pray for them, they don't kneel in front of me, believing I participated in their salvation because I gave my "fiat" or "okay" to give birth to the Savior, or because I led a sinless life.

Probably cos y'all make such a big deal about Mary and The Saints (sounds like the name of a JesusRock group :) )
I can't recall the other cults of xianity making such a big deal of Mary and The Saints - obviously you hold her and them in higher esteem than, let's say, Atheists.
To us Mary was just another lying sl*t in a tight skirt who got pregnant to some carny guy and The Saints are a fairly good AFL team here in Oz.

Ultimately, of course, you're willing to believe stuff about The Virgin that others don't cos most of us know (if she ever existed) she was just as mortal as you and me and just as riddled with imperfections.
If you look at church history it was a few centuries before Mary became The Mother of God. LOL
