  • England France and Spain all wanted some of the "new world" they all pretty much had their own part of it at one time. Native Americans were encountered along the way and they traded with them. The territory they were in and their treatment of them pretty much decided who was allied to who. Hurons learned french and adopted it as their language because of trade with the french.

  • The difference between the French and the English was that the French were mostly fur trappers and traders and they dealt with the Hurons fairly, not kicking them off their land. The English kicked the Hurons off their land and "civilized" it even though the Hurons were every bit as civilized as the English, if not more so. The French pretty much left the Indians alone, since they were customers for French goods, but the English saw they as obstacles in their quest to take over all of America, and mowed them down whenever possible.
