Any ideas on why it is doing this? Is my Word corrupted? I am using Word 2003 and previously used Word 2000. Did it in both versions (was hoping Word 2003 would fix it if it was something corrupted.) Here's the scenario --
I receive lots of files by email from coworkers. I open the file, can immediately save the file, okay, all is well. If I make ANY change at all then all ~'s break loose. I can verify that something is happening cause if you go to do a "save as", the file's name has already been "Corrupted" to "~partoffilename.doc". If you just pick save, then the file is saved as the ~partoffilename.doc not the original correct file name.
It will let me do a save as and save the name properly. I can open the files with the ~ and edit and use them, BUT I tried to send them to a coworker once just to see what happened and she couldn't even open them. She got an error message.
I also recently had to create something in Word Perfect from text in Word and it would not let me just cut and paste over to Word Perfect. I could paste from WP to Word and Word to textpad to WP but not directly to WP. I get most of my documents by email and I'm not sure if it's possibly my Outlook that starts the problem though it tends to do it on all documents. My outlook .pst file is HUGE (~1.5 gig) and I am working to reduce that and will recompact my .pst file. I have run countless virus and spyware programs, reinstalled Word, etc. and that doesn't seem to do anything. Any ideas???

This is an automated temp file that is created by Word. Usually for the auto-save so I wouldn't remove it.
If your word file gets corrupted then you can use kernel word to repair your corrupted word file.
You can get more information about kernel word from this link

this tool is really a great tool to repair your word file as it hrdly costs you $49
thanks
I believe what you're seeing are the temp files that Word creates while you're working on a document.
