One of my users has a 600MB file (I know that's awful!) and it crashes on him often...
Word 2000
Windows 2000
P3 1GHz
128MB RAM
Okey doke. :)
Maybe even PPT would've been better, and then LINK all the sound files....
The user says the documents gets slower and slower then eventually crashes on him.
The main content of the file is embedded WAV files.... I've tried to explain that an HTML page with a relative hyperlink would work much better, but they're so far into the doc and have a deadline to meet that they've made it impossible to turn back now.
I'm not going to worry about it too much.... I've already informed the user that 600MB is the reason it's not working.

What's wrong with it, Scottie?
How many pictures are in it? Is that what's bloating it?
You can find out by copying the file.
Open the copy.
Hit Ctrl+H
Type ^g into the find box.
Nothing in the replace with.
Hit replace all and save the file.
Down to less than a meg now?
They should take care of it NOW.
A file that size could easily become corrupt and then it'll have to be recreated.
Gee.
600MB file
128MB RAM
=
-472MB RAM for the rest of Windows to run.
Hmmm...
Start cutting the pictures, and pasting special as pictures (enhanced metafile), and if that doesn't help:

But to answer your question: file size is limited by the amount of RAM on the given PC.
I suppose if he hits the upper limits of his swapfile then that would be it.
I could create a static swapfile of a much larger size...
If only they would have made this document right from the start!
Thanks for the prompt answer.
